Mission: The Health and Wellness Division develops, implements, and evaluates programs and services that foster physical, mental, social, and intellectual development. This is accomplished while nurturing the individual’s capacity to interact in pro-social ways that foster individual, family and community development. We strive to remove the stigma associated with health problems such as HIV/AIDS, substance abuse and mental illness.
HIV Prevention Programs
New Britain's only organization providing HIV primary prevention services-
Culturally appropriate, current, risk reduction education to help lower risk for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C (HCV), and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). All HRA Prevention Programs offer counseling and free, rapid testing, free condoms, free bleach kits, referrals for STD testing, referrals for substance abuse treatment programs and clinical support for substance abusers.
HIV/AIDS Care Programs
Culturally appropriate supports to individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. Includes medical case management, support groups, social gatherings, workshops, medication adherence, nutritional counseling & nutritious meals, substance abuse counseling, mental health counseling and referrals for legal aid assistance, medical transportation and other services.
