Director, Finance and Sustainability

Jim Frohn, MBA, CPA, is HRA's Director of Finance and Sustainability. He has over 30 years of experience in finance and accounting, with over 16 years of that experience in senior level management positions in which he demonstrated his skill in forecasting and strategic planning. Throughout his career he has worked in both nonprofit and for-profit organizations, focusing on nonprofits since 1989.

At HRA, Jim concentrates on establishing and monitoring all financial systems to insure sustainability and transparency. Accordingly he plays a significant role in the evaluation of program viability and positioning for growth. To do so he manages all financial functions including accounting systems and controls, purchasing, budgets, grant management, reporting, monitoring, audits, fiscal analysis and forecasting. Jim monitors program expenses to make sure they operate within contract parameters and the agency banking relationships. He also manages the organization’s assets and operations to limit exposure and risk and to ensure that costs of insurance coverage are reasonable.

Jim’s diverse industry knowledge ranges from property management, audit, publicly traded start-up companies, behavioral health, community action, large nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. He has worked extensively with a variety of state and federal departments and is well-versed in budgeting and reporting requirements. In 2001 he started his own consulting business in which he fulfilled temporary and interim senior management positions and assisted organizations through periods of growth or change.

Jim holds his Masters of Business Administration, with an Accounting major, from the University of Hartford; his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University and has earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
